Coach Lee Campbell is proud to begin his first year as head coach of the Dodge County Indians.  A graduate of Hawkinsville High School, Coach Campbell lettered four years in football and baseball. As a senior, he made the All Middle Georgia Team and signed a scholarship to West Georgia College. A graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in History Education. In nine years at HHS, he had a record of 85-28-1 with his teams winning four region championships and making the state playoffs eight years including three straight appearances in the Georgia Dome. Coach Campbell received Region 4A Athletic Director of the Year (2002 & 2004) and Region 4A Head Football Coach of the Year (2001, 2002, 2003, & 2004).

In 2003 and 2004, Coach Campbell’s teams won back-to-back State Championships while finishing with a 29-0-1 record. Coach Campbell received the Associated Press and Atlanta Journal Constitution Class A Coach of the Year (2003 & 2004), the Atlanta Touchdown Club 2004 NFL Coach of the Year, and the 2003 Class A Coach of the Year. In 2003, the Macon Telegraph named him the All Middle Georgia Coach of the Year, and he was the Macon Touchdown Club Coach of the Year. Coach Campbell was also selected to coach the GACA North-South All Star Game in 2003. In December 2005, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association.

Coach Campbell began his coaching career at Hawkinsville High as an assistant in football and baseball. He then moved to AAAA Camden County where he was offensive coordinator and head wrestling coach. His first head football coaching position was at Montgomery County where he also served as athletic director for three years.

Coach Campbell is married to the former Alicia Simmons, originally from Hawkinsville. She is a teacher at Dodge County High School and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Curriculum Studies at Georgia Southern University. During the Campbell’s tenure at HHS, she was voted 2002 Special Education Teacher of the Year, 2005 Hawkinsville High School Teacher of the Year and 2005 Pulaski County Teacher of the Year. The Campbell’s have two children, Kelsey, 15, a sophomore and the team’s athletic trainer, and Witt, 11, a sixth grader, team manager and future Indian.
